‘MOMENTS’ EXHIBITION 2022
‘In the Moment’ is a term of art used in meditation practice, and many other philosophies of life. When I engaged in the creation of my new body of work, as is often the case I entered the process with a specific conceptual framework of intention that would carry through each Work. As things came to be in the environment of current times, each time I entered the Studio, my being was embraced by some new intense experience or state of being. I chose not to push against these feelings in the interest of following a framed conceptual path, but rather to embrace each moment, each state of being as I entered the Studio and bring that embodiment of feeling to each Work. The current Exhibition and the motivation behind it is as simple as that. As my first meditation teacher, Larry Rosenberg, said often at the end of his Dharma talks and I paraphrase, ‘May we see things exactly as they are ‘in this moment’ and in so seeing may we be set free.” My embrace of what is in the moment and the self-discovery, compassion, release and action experienced and motivated in the creation of the body of work, ‘Moments’, have been transformative.
