Interdependence – 2017
‘Interdependence’ offers a series of sculptures that explore the fundamental interdependence of all beings camouflaged by an inherent focus of global societies on difference and conflict motivated by economics, culture, religion, race, or otherwise.
The works examine the diversity and imbalance of current society, while seeking to shift our focus to the underlying truth that we are fundamentally interdependent, interconnected irrespective of our bewildering attachment to our differences.
At the most rudimentary level, just go sit in any room in your home, and I promise you that someone from many many countries around the world touched an object, or a material in an object in that room. Simply at the physical level, very little in that room would exist without the efforts, interdependence of our global humanity and societies.
Interdependence was divided into three installations of work: ‘Gathering’, ‘Creation and Evolution’, and ‘Interdependence’.
